ABOUT

Sami Wyckoff, a Philadelphia-based works digitally and traditionally to create figurative illustrations that center around the often-misunderstood world of insects. Since graduating from Montserrat College of Art in 2016, Sami has been exploring her passion for natural history and entomology, while developing her craft.

In her work, Sami challenges conventional standards of beauty by placing insects alongside icons of traditional beauty within ethereal environments. Using color and textures, she creates a delicate tension between attraction and discomfort- inviting viewers to question their own perceptions of elegance and fragility.

When Sami isn’t thinking about bugs and art, she tends to her garden alongside her husband and two cats.
